SLR Committees

Volunteers - your participation will help us sustain our excellent momentum through 2010. Let's have some fun growing Shop Local Raleigh!

Membership Committee

The membership committee is responsible for growing our Shop Local movement in the local community. We had a great launch in 2009, and we are poised for dramatic growth in 2010. Our key responsibility is member recruitment & retention. We have a plan in place to address everything from renewals, member referrals and direct sales to strategic and sustaining partnerships. How can you help? Make a couple calls every month to encourage your favorite local businesses to join. Tell your business colleagues who are not yet members about SLR. Help us with member relations activities. Hey, we are seeking as much or as little participation as your time allows. If you would like to get involved, contact Mark Weldon at localmark@me.com.

Business-2-Business Committee

The Business-2-Business committee will concentrate on forming relationships among Shop Local Raleigh members and potential large purchasers. One of the main focuses of this committee is leveraging the power of anchor institutions - like hospitals, colleges and universities, school districts, government entities and others - to shift more of their spending to local Raleigh independents. We also aim to educate members on how the City bidding process works to gain a percentage of city spending within our membership. Other goals are to develop partnerships with local banks and a Shop Local Raleigh Ambassador Program. We need your help! If you would like to get involved, contact Stephen Votino at svotino@yahoo.com.

Marketing Committee

The Marketing Committee is committed to increasing consumer awareness of the benefits of buying local and bringing valuable promotional support to Shop Local Raleigh member businesses. The committee is responsible for all campaign and co-op advertising, print collateral and event promotion for Shop Local Raleigh. It also manages the www.shoplocalraleigh.org website and social media sites – Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blog and LinkedIn. The Marketing Committee invites participants who are experienced in marketing strategy, graphic design, public relations, photography – and anyone with ideas and fresh perspectives to support the Shop Local Raleigh movement. If you would like to get involved, contact Sarah Styron at info@shoplocalraleigh.org.
