Packapalooza Returns to Hillsborough Street on Aug. 25

Packapalooza 2018

Another successful end to Wolfpack Welcome Week is expected!

Packapalooza returns to Hillsborough Street on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 2-10 p.m. The annual street festival closes out NC State’s Wolfpack Welcome Week and is presented by Live It Up! Hillsborough Street.

This free, family-friendly event has grown to include over 300 vendors and Hillsborough Street merchants as well as 80,000-plus attendees over its seven-year history. The day’s activities include food/drinks, arts & crafts, meet-and-greets, activities, performances and more over the course of the afternoon.

The festival culminates with a performance by Parmalee at the Belltower Stage and fireworks.

As a part of the festivities, Live It Up! Hillsborough Street will join with NC State and the City of Raleigh to celebrate the conclusion of Phase II construction as a part of the Hillsborough Street Renewal Project. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the Brooks Avenue Roundabout at 3 p.m.

Packapalooza is separated into eight zones, including the Senior & Young Alumni Zone on Chamberlain St., presented by Raleigh Brewing Company. There are also three performance stages, spread throughout the footprint between Pullen Drive and Dan Allen Drive.

To facilitate the festival, road closures will take place both on Hillsborough Street and select side streets. Hillsborough Street will be closed from the Pullen Road roundabout to Enterprise Street from 3:00 a.m. August 25 to 4:00 a.m. August 26 and Enterprise Street to Dan Allen Drive from 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 a.m. Traffic may be detoured one block in each direction. A full listing of closures is available here.
