Shop Local Raleigh and ABC11 announce a new partnership for the Raleigh Christmas Parade

As a gift to local residents, Shop Local Raleigh plans to continue the 73 year tradition on Saturday, November 18th, 2017, LIVE on ABC11.

Since 1944, thousands of local families have joined their neighbors and friends for the Raleigh Christmas Parade. In one of the largest events of the year, more than 65,000 people watch the parade through Downtown Raleigh in person, and another 250,000 watch from home as a kick off to the holiday season.

From the beginning, the parade has been produced by local Raleigh merchants as a way to give back to neighbors, and this year, Shop Local Raleigh has chosen a NEW broadcast partner to bring new energy to the 73rd annual parade! The most watched local TV station will be broadcasting the most watched parade in the state of North Carolina. ABC11 will broadcast all the floats, balloons, marching bands, and even a visit by the big man himself, Santa Claus.

“The effort the Raleigh merchants put into bringing this parade to our community is both inspiring and heartwarming” says ABC11 President and General Manager Caroline Welch.  “As a former city parade producer, I am thrilled that ABC11 can share this event with viewers throughout the region.”

ABC11 will have coverage from every angle on every platform so families can enjoy the magic of the Raleigh Christmas Parade wherever they are. From the on-air broadcast on the big screen to a live streaming presentation on your phone, ABC11 will have more ways to watch than ever in history. The ABC App, Facebook Live, ABC11.com, the new ABC11 App and many other platforms will all allow you to experience the parade like never before.

ABC11 (WTVD) covers 23 counties in the Raleigh, Durham and Fayetteville region. With a strong commitment to serving the community, it is the only local news station with a street-side newsroom on Fayetteville Street in Downtown Raleigh, in addition to newsrooms in Downtown Durham and Downtown Fayetteville. Additionally, ABC11 will be participating in holiday parades in Durham, Fayetteville, Cary and Chapel Hill in 2017.
