Each sin — Pride, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, and Lust — is brought vividly to life through powerful storytelling and visceral movement. Set against a backdrop of discipline, tradition, and youthful rebellion, The Seven Deadly Sins blurs the line between sacred and profane, innocence and temptation.
In this world premiere, seven sins take center stage—and so do the clever, unexpected ways we navigate them. Playful, sharp, and delightfully provocative, this ballet turns youthful ambition and temptation into a captivating story. Drawing on 90’s teen angst, Mean Girls scheming, and Wednesday’s dark charm, The Seven Deadly Sins turns ambition, rivalry, and temptation into irresistible drama.
With an original libretto, the ballet follows a group of students navigating the seven deadly sins. Each sin — pride, envy, gluttony, lust, wrath, greed, and sloth— is a hurdle to overcome, and the story arc celebrates how resilience, cleverness, and unexpected courage can transform even the darkest impulses into strength.
Composer Aaron Severini has crafted a vivid original score for The Seven Deadly Sins, one that mirrors the ballet’s dark humor, emotional gravity, and striking characters. Drawing inspiration from the libretto and visual tone of each scene, Severini layers textures ranging from playful and absurd to brooding and serpentine. Chromatic, snakelike passages evoke unease, while leitmotifs for figures like Sloth and the Headmaster anchor the audience in recurring ideas. At the heart of the work lies the score’s opening measures, a seed from which the music’s varied themes and atmospheres unfurl—creating a soundscape as daring and dynamic as the ballet itself.
Every performance of The Seven Deadly Sins will feature the score performed live by orchestra.
