Designed For Joy holds their annual ‘Evening of Giving’ event on September 29 at North Carolina Museum of Art
Designed For Joy provides women in crisis with stability through immediate employment and support, removing the stigma of vulnerability. Evening of Giving celebrates five years of immediate, living wage work for women in crisis. This Raleigh nonprofit relies on donations and sales of their brand of leather bags, jewelry and home decor to support their work model. With 90 women hired and over $200,000 in living wages earned, this special fundraising event will support the ongoing need for dignified and fair chance work in Raleigh.
This year’s venue of North Carolina Museum of Art inspired an auction of painted leather bags to be auctioned off in partnership with 12 local artists including Christopher Evans of Good Trip Gallery, Kelly Shatat of Moon and Lola, Thomas Ard of TomTom and Company, Ty Smalls, local muralist, Lisa Graither, Maghon Taylor of All She Wrote Notes and more. The bag auction and silent online auction will start a week before the event on September 22.
Through the night you can expect Designed For Joy to launch a new promotional video, an artisan experience sewing on a commercial machine, live painting of a bag to be auctioned, and most importantly, stories from our artisans on how Designed For Joy has impacted their lives.
The new Designed For Joy studio is downtown in the Warehouse District at 517 W Cabarrus St, Suite A and open 10-2 Monday- Saturday for tours and shopping.
