Irregardless celebrates 50 years – Retro dinner series will celebrate each decade of dining at Irregardless.

February 4, 2025 marks a major milestone for Irregardless, Raleigh’s first vegetarian restaurant, as it celebrates 50 years of serving the community with vibrant, innovative cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere.

featuring beef, poultry and seafood, while maintaining its commitment to farm-to-table ingredients and a diverse menu.

The restaurant was opened on West Morgan Street by Arthur Gordon and some friends. Gordon and his wife, Anya, ran the restaurant for 45 years before selling it to Lee Robinson, a longtime local restaurant manager who always wanted to own an iconic Raleigh restaurant. Robinson purchased the restaurant in January 2020.

Over the past five decades, Irregardless has become much more than a restaurant. It has established itself as a Raleigh institution known for a diverse menu to please all diners, live music and one of the best weekend brunches in the Triangle. Voted Best Brunch by The News & Observer readers in April 2023 and frequently ranked among the best brunch spots by Eater Carolinas and WRAL, Irregardless continues to delight guests with its timeless hospitality and culinary excellence.

To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Irregardless is hosting a series of special prix fixe dinners, each celebrating a different decade in the restaurant’s history. The first event will honor the 1970s with a nostalgic three-course meal at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, priced at $80 per person. The 1975 menu includes:

First Course (choice of):
Shrimp Cocktail with Shrimp Salad, Bibb Lettuce, and Green Goddess Dressing
Citrus Avocado Salad with Grapefruit, Blood Orange, Grilled Avocado, Red Onion, Little Gems, and Preserved Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Second Course (choice of):
Maryland-Style Crab Cakes with Three Bean Salad, Curry Remoulade, Frisée, and Lemon Oil
Chicken à la King with Vol-au-Vent, Mushrooms, English Peas, and Sherry Cream
Primavera with Radiatore Pasta, Zucchini, Snow Peas, Cherry Tomato, Oyster Mushroom, and Parmesan Cream

Dessert (choice of):
Upside Down Cake with Torched Pineapple, Maraschino Cherry, and Almond Chantilly
Rum Cheesecake with Graham Cracker Crust, Sour Cream, and Dark Rum Whipped Cream

Wine and beverage pairings will be available as an optional add-on. The menu is subject to change based on ingredient availability.
