Who Brewed This Galoo?

Featuring: Ben Farrar of Forgotten Road Ales

Beer:
Shannon Drive – Scottish-Style Ale
ABV: 3.8%

At Brewgaloo, some beers come with medals—and some come with memories. Shannon Drive from Forgotten Road Ales brings both.

This light Scottish-style ale began as a humble homebrew for a friend’s wedding. But when the brewery officially opened in 2019, Shannon Drive found its place in the lineup and quickly became a staple for amber lovers looking for something smooth, sessionable, and full of flavor.

Clocking in at just 3.8% ABV, Shannon Drive is deceptively easy to drink—but don’t let the low ABV fool you. With rich toffee and malt character, it delivers complexity that lingers and keeps you coming back for another sip.

Award-Winning Ale

Need a reason to try it at Brewgaloo? How about Gold in the Scottish-Style Ale category at the World Beer Cup 2024? Yeah—this beer doesn’t just show up, it shows out.

Meet the Brewer: Ben Farrar

Owner and head brewer Ben Farrar started brewing in 2007 after returning from deployment. What began as a therapeutic hobby has grown into a thriving business—and for Ben, brewing still remains his escape and creative outlet.

While Shannon Drive might be the crowd-pleaser, Ben’s real passion lies in spontaneous and farmhouse ales, which is why Forgotten Road is home to a custom-built coolship and a wall of barrels just waiting to tell their own stories.

Come meet Ben and the Forgotten Road crew at Brewgaloo and raise a glass of Shannon Drive—one of North Carolina’s best, with the awards to prove it.
