Nestled in Zebulon, North Carolina just outside of Raleigh, Oak City Customs is a custom furniture manufacturing company specializing in urban lumber and handcrafted hardwood pieces. At the helm is Dylan Selinger, an entrepreneur and maker who has grown his passion project into a full-scale operation with a 26,000 sq. ft. facility and a team of 25 skilled craftspeople.
Dylan’s journey into woodworking began as a hobby in his home garage. After earning a degree in entrepreneurship from NC State, he co-founded Crank Arm Brewing Company and Crank Arm Rickshaw, a bike taxi service. While those ventures kept him busy, his passion for craftsmanship continued to grow. What started as a hobby with simple woodworking projects has now evolved into a thriving business serving clients throughout the East Coast and across the country.
A Space Built for Innovation
Oak City Customs recently expanded into a new warehouse space, allowing the team to significantly increase their production capabilities. The new space separates raw materials from the metal and wood shops, providing more room to build, store, and showcase finished products. With this upgrade, the company has also expanded its inventory to include over 500 hardwood slabs, as well as plywood and other sheet goods all available to the public for purchase.
This warehouse not only boosts efficiency but also provides a client-friendly environment where customers can view in-progress and ready-to-ship pieces firsthand.
