Parties Downtown for Bluegrass Award Nominations

Raleigh’s very first opportunity to participate in the approaching World of Bluegrass is Wednesday, August 14. Viewing parties will be held in three Downtown venues for the announcement of nominations for the 2013 International Bluegrass Music Awards.

Starting at 6 p.m. EDT, August 14, The Irregardless Café, Lincoln Theatre and Tir na nOg will stream the live announcements from Music City Roots at www.musiccityroots.com from the Loveless Barn in Nashville.  Subscribers to Sirius XM can listen to the August 14 press conference on the Bluegrass Junction channel.

North Carolina native, songwriting superstar and performer Jim Lauderdale will co-host the award announcements with Sam Bush, master of the mandolin and widely credited an as originator of the Newgrass style.

The International Bluegrass Music Awards are voted on by the professional membership of the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). North Carolina’s own Steep Canyon Rangers will host the International Bluegrass Awards show on September 26 in Raleigh Memorial Auditorium in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. The awards show is part of the 5-day World of Bluegrass that is descending on Raleigh September 24 – 28.  The World of Bluegrass is the annual gathering of bluegrass music industry professionals, artists and fans from around the world. Organized by IBMA, the five-day event will take place on Downtown Raleigh’s event campus at the Raleigh Convention Center, the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, The Red Hat Amphitheater, City Plaza and every square inch of Fayetteville Street.
