Joint Venture Jewelry, the preferred fine jewelry destination in Cary for over 18 years, will be hosting its Annual Vintage Jewelry Show Oct. 12-22. The highly anticipated 10-day affair will allow local shoppers to peruse and purchase a vast assortment of vintage jewelry from the 1800’s all the way to the Art Deco period of the 1940’s.

The jewelry featured at the show comes from a third generation vintage dealer in New York who travels across the world to find the exquisite jewels he brings to this special event. The collection includes a variety of pre-set options, antique settings and vintage mountings. Each antique piece he brings holds a special story from the past. Below are some examples of pieces with incredible backgrounds that will be highlighted at the show:

Sapphire & diamond ring

  • Gold was the metal of choice in the Victorian era as it was easier to work with than platinum. As a result, two tone jewelry was common, often in the form of silver or platinum being laminated onto yellow gold. This ring takes inspiration from the brooch Prince Albert presented to Victoria to wear on their wedding day – a sapphire surrounded by a halo of diamonds.

 Yellow gold bracelet with fringe

  • This adjustable mesh bracelet is an example of the ingenuity seen throughout life during the Victorian period. Wide bracelets and tassels were especially prevalent during the Mid-Victorian period. This was caused by voluminous crinoline & hoop skirts – even larger jewelry was needed to balance the wide silhouettes created.

Circle Brooch

  • The black onyx eternity circle pin with vintage white gold diamond bow motif is from the 1920’s Art Deco period. What makes it even more unique is that it was worn in DC by an attendee of the Inaugural Ball of Ronald Regan in 1981.
