Mitchell Gold Interviews Greg Fishel at BeyondBlue Interiors

Edenton, NC – Sustainable Furnishings Council member BeyondBlue Interiors, located in Raleigh’s North Hills, will host a lively and important discussion on June 23 at noon. SFC DESIGNINGreen Leader and tastemaker Mitchell Gold will interview Greg Fishel, WRAL’s chief meteorologist, highlighting the scientist’s conversion from skepticism about climate change. The conversation promises to illuminate key facts about how our planet is warming, as well as to delve into how religious and philosophical beliefs influence our thought processes.

The topic is of particular interest to Gold, co-founder of internationally known Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Home Furnishings, as the company has made design and manufacturing decisions with a concern for environmental protection since their earliest days. The company is committed to sustaining a healthy as well as comfortable future for everyone, which has led them to take an active and vocal stand on a number of social and environmental issues. The company is very active with the Sustainable Furnishings Council, where Gold serves as a member of the organization’s all volunteer Board of Directors. Mitchell Gold said “I’m particularly excited to interview Mr. Fishel because he had the courage and humility to change his thinking on the health of our environment. Too many today, from politicians to clergy to everyday citizens, feel threatened if they change positions on important issues. I’ve found that confident people actually feel it freeing as I believe Greg does.”

“It is a timely discussion, especially given the consumer concern that recent SFC research reveals. Seventy-five percent of consumers are concerned enough about the environment to take action consistently, from recycling beverage cans to choosing eco-friendly product such as the lines that BeyondBlue offers” commented Susan Inglis, the Executive Director of Sustainable Furnishings Council.

“The Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams line, for instance, is made in North Carolina of low-impact and natural materials.”

BeyondBlue Interiors, a long-time dealer in the Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams line joined Sustainable Furnishings Council earlier this year, citing how useful the information the organization provides is to consumers as well as to industry professionals. “This is an important subject at an important time and we are thrilled we are able to host this conversation. We know from our customers they are interested in creating not just a comfortable home, but also a healthy one as well as a healthy planet.”

A farm-to-box lunch will be served starting at 11:30 AM, and the interview will be filmed from noon to 1, so attendees are urged to RSVP and arrive promptly to the store at Raleigh’s North Hills, 4350 Lassiter at North Hills Avenue, Suite 102, Raleigh, NC 27609-0001 Please call (919) 896-6630 to reserve your place now.

About BeyondBlue Interiors

BeyondBlue Interiors was founded by Susan LaFera and Beth Bridgers in 2005 after finding that the Triangle did not offer furniture that truly fit their modern taste and lifestyle. Their philosophy has always been to sell what they love. They decided to start the store shortly after Susan survived breast cancer – after all, why wait? The inspiration for the store’s name, BeyondBlue, is based on Susan and Beth’s successful careers at IBM (Big Blue).
