ShopLocalRaleigh 4th Friday Social
Happy COLD Friday!!! January is going by fast, only one more Friday left in January 2014. Today was the 4th Friday Social for ShopLocalRaleigh.
We all gathered this morning at Joint Venture Jewelry & Peachy Keen in Cary, NC. The 4th Friday Social is a monthly event that is offered by ShopLocalRaleigh to all members and guests. Each month it rotates around to different locations in the Triangle Area. The event is from 8:30am-10:00am and involves some FRESH coffee, light refreshments and lots of great networking.
I arrived shortly after 9:00am this morning…having to get two boys to two different schools and then drive across town was a time crunch for me, but I made it work and got there in time for the large circle networking. The large circle networking is everyone’s favorite part; we form a large circle and then go around one at a time to meet each other. Jennifer Martin, the Executive Director for ShopLocalRaleigh, always gives us a question or topic to discuss during our introductions.
This morning she asked us to identify an issue or concern that we are seeking help with as small business owners. We had lots of new first time visitors at the social this morning, which is always great, as we want ShopLocalRaleigh to keep growing and growing and growing! I had a nice conversation with Gary Chvatal, owner of Flicko’s Video Workshops in Cary; it was his first time at a ShopLocalRaleigh event. The more people we can get to shop local and spend local, the better off we will all be as small business owners.
I enjoyed meeting some of the new members/visitors and really liked the cupcakes that were made by Laura McMillan, Baker & Decorator of Confectionate Cakes. Jen Hankin, Director of Communication for Peachy Keen & Joint Venture Jewelry, spoke to the group about their Dinner & Diamonds Facebook Contest. The contest features submitted photos from Facebook followers who are defining “What is Love”, they are then asked to get their friends to vote (you can vote daily) for their photos. What’s a stake you ask…wellll…. winner with the MOST votes gets Diamond Stud Earrings from Joint Venture Jewelry and Dinner for TWO ($150 value) at Oro Restaurant in Raleigh! Blake and I have submitted a picture, so I would REALLY appreciate your votes! You can vote once a day between NOW and Feb 11th. They are also giving away prizes for Cutest Couple and Best Definition of “What is Love”.
They will award the winners at their Valentine’s Day Panic Party on Wednesday, February 12th. Great idea and being a member of ShopLocalRaleigh gives JVJ and PK a fantastic opportunity to promote and grow not only the contest…but also their business! Join us for the NEXT 4th Friday ShopLocalRaleigh social at Ray Price Harley-Davidson in downtown Raleigh (February 28th). I got a super cute shoulder bag at Peachy Keen during the social, one that I’ve had my eye on for a while, and I can’t wait to carry it!
