From Joe Bunn- After seeing the Dollar Shave Club.com ad, I knew I wanted to pay homage to Mike Durbin, the founder of the company and star of the video. We got together with a local film writer/director, Chris Moore and then partnered up with Chris and Toni Wheaton of Portico Pictures, who have done all of my videos. Next, we came up with our own script and ideas focused around my 17 staff DJs. We set aside a night here at the office and for about six hours shot most of the scenes. After watching the first rough cut, we realized that the “accent” part could be so much better and we re-shot those at Portico Pictures’ studio in Raleigh, and then did a couple of reshoots back here at the office (mainly parts that I messed up on). Once we got those shoots wrapped and added music, it was magic! We love the video and have gotten great response on the internet. My goal is to get Dollar Shave Club to retweet the link. I did get an email response from an employee there (not Mike) who said he loved it and would forward it to Mike. Fingers crossed! Rock on!
