BEHOLD THE POWER OF WOMEN:

National Premiere of Silver Lining by Sandi Toksvig

“Silver Lining” is a hilarious new comedy by writer, actor, presenter and political activist Sandi Toksvig. It tells the tale of five extraordinary yet forgotten women, who come together one treacherous night to recreate The Great Escape – senior citizen style! It also includes two younger people who discover that older people should never be counted out!  Come and be the first in the US to see “Silver Lining,” on stage from September 22nd through October 1st at Sonorous Road Theatre & Film Studio.

Director Pam McClure chose this play because it is funny but with a bite to it, as the British do so well.  Although this play takes place in the United Kingdom, it is a universal truth that at a “certain age,” one may be forgotten.  These women are smart and have lived quite interesting lives (as we find out).  The young woman sent to help learns much about life from these older women.  How can it be laugh out loud funny that these women are forgotten?  Ah, that you will have to come see to find out.

Ms. Toskvig commented: “My ambition was to write a laugh out loud comedy which occasionally also brings a tear to the eye. It is a passion project for me as all the leads are women and the majority are ‘women of a certain age.’ Now six glorious women will not only shine they will also, I suspect, steal your heart.”

The cast features Laura Bottomley (Maureen), Laura Arwood (Gloria), Karen Morgan Williams (May), Freyja Helmer-Sindemark (June), Carol Oleson (St. Michael), Lauren Foster-Lee (Hope) and Will Harris (Jed). The show is produced in conjunction with Peony Productions: Producer Judy McCord, Set Design by Sage Twiss, Properties by Erin Folk, Stage Manager Rebekah Meekins, Lighting by Mia Carson, Sound by Tyler Graeber.
