According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood or platelets but every summer, blood donations go down.
So what is the Triangle going to do about it?
In response to the dip in donations, Shop Local Raleigh is partnering with the Red Cross, local breweries, and sponsors to put on the First Annual Pint for a Pint – Battle of the Breweries!
What is it?
At this event you will sign up to donate blood and in return you will receive a free t-shirt and wood nickel to use as a token to collect a pint of your favorite beer from a participating brewery. When you are giving blood, participants are asked to vote for your favorite participating brewery! The winning brewery will leave with bragging rights as the most loved brewery as well as a trophy!
This friendly competition between Triangle craft beer establishments that will help the Red Cross meet patient/hospital demand for blood. Donate at all Red Cross Blood donation centers between September 4th-11th to participate!
Wait, did you say free beer and T-shirt?
Yes! While you are donating blood, show your team member which brewery you voted for, and you will receive a free Pint for a Pint t-shirt and your token to redeem for a pint the week of September 11th-17th and of course the gift of knowing you are helping to save lives.
