Shop Local Raleigh Sponsors Triangle Business Journal for Family Business Award

Raleigh, NC- The Triangle Business Journal has introduced the all-new 2016 Family Business Awards. The Family Business Award seeks to honor family-owned businesses in the Triangle for overall excellence, innovation, ethics, philanthropy and contribution to the strength of the region.

The Family Business Award coincides with Shop Local Raleigh’s mission to build awareness and give recognition to local-owned business of Wake County and the Triangle abroad. This award will distinguish locally owned, family-owned business from the larger big box stores and in turn create a healthy competitive environment for businesses to receive the recognition that comes with winning the Family Business Award.

The Triangle Business Journal is seeking nominations from family-owned businesses, as well as from service providers and others that know the business well. Businesses must be 51 percent family-owned to qualify.

A total of five categories will be awarded based on business size according to the number of employees working for that business.

  • Under 20 employees
  • 20 to 50 employees
  • 51-75 employees
  • 76-200 employees
  • 201+ employees

Eligibility:

  • Business must be open for a minimum 2 years.
  • Family-owned with at least 51% ownership control
  • Business must be headquartered in one of 16 counties that comprise the
  • Triangle: Chatham, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake, Warren and Wilson.
