How do you train LOCAL for Ironman?

How do you train LOCAL for Ironman?

Follow this one local’s journey for the next 6 months on how to do just that….

#IronMariah

Over the next six months, I will follow Mariah Bridges on her journey to compete in IRONMAN 70.3 on June 1 in Raleigh.

Mariah’s story is powerful, which is why I signed on to this project. From a dynamic career as a professional dance choreographer to suddenly sedentary with a broken spine, you won’t believe her accomplishments over the past few years.

A Raleigh native, Mariah’s loyalty to her hometown is evident in her health and wellness lifestyle. We’ve partnered with Shop Local Raleigh in an effort to feature the plethora of local options when it comes to creating and maintaining an active lifestyle.

I don’t remember “meeting” Mariah, but our paths frequently crossed as Durant Dolphins, then as Millbrook Wildcats, and later as part of the N.C. State Wolfpack.

To say we have a passion for Raleigh would be a slight understatement.

I’ve followed Mariah over the years through a variety of social media outlets.  Perhaps most encouraging and thought-provoking are her tweets on @eatpraylovenc.

I’ll also be tweeting throughout this documentary, so follow me, too, on @jenhoverstad.

The #IronMariah project is aimed to be interactive with the Triangle.  Ideas for Mariah’s training? Suggestions for local gear? Want Mariah to speak to your group? We’d love to hear from you! Feel free to email me jen.hoverstad@gmail.com with the subject #IronMariah
