We Plant it Forward (WPiF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and restoring the natural environment for the benefit of future generations through hands-on activities, community engagement, and environmental education bringing harmony to all life. WPiF was founded by Maggie Bailey, Executive Director, in 2009 under a parent nonprofit organization. In 2021, WPiF registered as its own nonprofit organization. We works to preserve the environment by hosting tree plantings, tree giveaways, nature connected education, water conservation workshops, and through a partnership with Project Pando, a native tree seed collection. Bailey launched WPiF in Raleigh, North Carolina, to offer an environmental service program to her local community. In 2022, we are holding our first annual Arbor Day Festival. The long-range goal of WPiF is to be a comprehensive environmental organization also addressing issues from alternative energy, water rights and quality, and air quality.

Since keeping records, starting in 2011, WPiF has given away over 8k trees and over 3k tree seed kits. We have planted a over 2k trees at our tree plantings. Through the many tree giveaways and planting events, WPiF has worked to engage the community. We have recruited hundreds of volunteers, who have contributed over 4k hours. Through our educational rain barrel workshops and volunteer builds, community members and volunteers have built 247 rain barrels to help people start their own water conservation program at home.
