About Our Host
Hartwell was originally built as M.H’s Grocerteria in the late 1950s by owner, Caitlin Ward’s, late grandfather, this building has served the Boylan Heights community in downtown Raleigh for decades as a grocery store, neighborhood grill and convenience store.
Caitlin and her husband, Matt, are looking forward to continuing her grandfather’s legacy by restoring this one-of-a-kind property to serve as a retail and community space offering goods from local makers as well as indoor and outdoor spaces to host workshops, events, outdoor maker markets and more.
