Lonesome River Band to Kick Off Bluegrass

HILLSBOROUGH STREET WELCOMES LONESOME RIVER BAND TO KICK OFF A WEEK OF BLUEGRASS IN RALEIGH

DRUMROLL PLEASE…The official band lineup for the second annual Live & Local: Bluegrass on Hillsborough Street has arrived with bluegrass stalwarts Lonesome River Band headlining the free event taking place Sunday, September 27, 2015 in Compiegne Park.

Live & Local: Bluegrass on Hillsborough Street is a fun-filled community event celebrating the culture of bluegrass music. The free event features dozens of local artisans, food trucks, local beer, a kids zone and three stages of bands. Stages will be located at Compiegne Park, Logan Court and Chamberlain Street. Hillsborough Street will not be closed for the event.

Lonesome River Band is led by five-time International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) banjo player of the year, Sammy Shelor. The band has received other awards from IBMA including Album of the Year and numerous awards from SPBGMA including being named Bluegrass Band of Year, Vocal Group of the Year and Song of the Year.

Additional performers include 2015 Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year, Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road, the Grass Cats, Tommy Edwards and Carolina Lightnin’, Big Fat Gap, the Church Sisters, the Moore Brothers, the Reckless Brothers and more.
