Oak City Bard Brawl

The Raleigh Public Record & Little Raleigh Radio are once again hosting storytelling showdown, the Oak City Bard Brawl! This year’s theme is What About the Future, where contestants will spin yarns about how their once-image of a future Raleigh has measured up with reality.

ABOUT

It’s fun, it’s loud, and sometimes it’s bawdy. Bards will be spinning yarns during the Raleigh Public Record and Little Raleigh Radio’s third annual “Oak City Bard Brawl” competition.

WUNC’s Frank Stasio will emcee the competition, a fierce storytelling showdown in which contestants go head to head before a panel of judges. Only one will be crowned King of the Bards and wear Sir Walter Raleigh’s plumed hat.

Competitors have seven minutes to tell an original story on the theme “Metamorphosis,” using no notes or props. Judges will select two finalists, who will face off in a sudden death storytelling showdown.

All proceeds support the nonprofit Record and Little Raleigh Radio.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Show starts at 7 p.m.
Cost: $10 at door or in advance kingsbarcade.com
