The Greater Raleigh Merchants Association (GRMA) is a non-profit organization that has been a single effective voice for small business and merchants since 1940. Comprised of business owners, entrepreneurs, merchants and other professionals in the Raleigh area, GRMA promotes an environment of communication, cooperation and support for local businesses.

The Candidate

The Membership and Programs position seeks a well-rounded, self-starter professional that is able to work independently on administrative duties including office management, social media management, membership sales, website management, event management for the organizations signature events, some marketing and various other items as assigned by the Executive Director. Some nights and weekends may also be required.  This position will report directly to the Executive Director and will work in a team environment to accomplish the goals of the organization.

The ideal candidate will have experience in customer service, social media management, marketing, WordPress, Excel and must be self-motivated. The candidate will also need to be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at once, have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and possess excellent communication skills.  Exceptional interpersonal skills are indispensable due to the importance of positive relationships with board members, business members, government officials, volunteers and the general public. The candidate will also be flexible in that the actual day to day responsibilities and understands that some days may differ from what’s listed on this job description.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree or comparable experience desired
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email marketing software, basic graphic design
  • Excellent time management skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Compensation

  • Compensation shall be commensurate with experience and will include health, retirement contributions and generous paid time off.
