Volunteers Needed to Work at Destination Dix!

Destination Dix, a community-wide FREE event to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the purchase of Dorothea Dix Park, is Saturday, July 23, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

This is going to be an amazing event with:

  • three music stages,
  • free Ferris wheel and tethered hot air balloon rides,
  • food trucks & beer garden,
  • lots of activities for children,
  • parking shuttles from downtown and Centennial Campus.

We can’t do this without your help!  The size and scope of this event requires lots of volunteers to help people get on shuttles, greet them when they arrive at the park and help with the day’s activities.

If you would like to volunteer, please sign up at one of the links below (orange links).  The links give more information about each job. Most shifts are about 4.50 hours long, so you can enjoy the festival, too!  Shifts start and end at different times and are of different durations, so please click the underlined “Job Link” to find the time and length that fits your schedule.

Volunteers will receive a Destination Dix “Staff” t-shirt to be worn during their shift.

Thank you so much for your help with this event.  It’s going to be a lot of fun!  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Volunteers for these positions will need to check in at the Nash Square Volunteer Check In table, be briefed on your role, change into your Destination Dix t-shirt, then walk or drive to your assigned location. Parking will be available in the deck or lot at which you are greeting. Volunteers will also receive a parking pass for Dorothea Dix Park to be used once their shift ends.  We may need to change the location you sign up for based on volunteer availability

Downtown Greeter – Volunteers will be stationed near parking decks and the shuttle pick up point to pass out shuttle wristbands, remind patrons of what they cannot bring into the park and answer any questions.

Centennial Campus Greeter– Volunteers will be stationed near parking decks and the shuttle pick up point to pass out shuttle wristbands, remind patrons of what they cannot bring into the park and answer any questions. Due to the location of these volunteer positions, volunteers will need a car.

Volunteers for these positions will park at Dorothea Dix Park, check in at Dorothea Dix Park, get their job instructions, and change into their Destination Dix t-shirt.  A parking pass for Dorothea Dix Park will be sent to you prior to the event

Dix Park Greeter – Downtown Shuttle Parking Lot at Dix Park: Volunteers will be stationed at one of two parking lots in Dix Park to greet festival-goers as they get off the shuttle, pass out wayfinding fans, and answer any questions. They will also assist festival-goers in getting on the correct bus when it is time to leave the festival.

Dix Park Greeter– Centennial Campus Shuttle Parking Lot at Dix Park: Volunteers will be stationed at one of two parking lots in Dix Park to greet festival-goers as they get off the shuttle, pass out wayfinding fans, and answer any questions. They will also assist festival-goers in getting on the correct bus when it is time to leave the festival.
