Join us for September’s Tech Tuesday!
Tech Tuesday is a FREE monthly business seminar where we invite local experts to present on a variety of topics to help local business owners succeed. This month, we are excited to hear from Andrea Weigl, who will discuss PR for small business owners.
Andrea Weigl spent two decades as a reporter and editor, including 17 years at The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C. She covered courts and the justice system before becoming the food writer. After leaving the N&O, she spent five years working as a television and documentary film producer. She worked on the Peabody- and Emmy award-winning PBS show, “A Chef’s Life,” and its follow-up series, “Somewhere South,” starring North Carolina chef, cookbook author and Garden & Gun columnist Vivian Howard. She also was a producer on the four-part documentary, “Burden of Proof,” (HBO), which was nominated for an Emmy, Critic’s Choice and International Documentary Association awards.
Andrea started working as a publicist — first internally for the television and film projects she helped produce and later primarily for restaurants and hotels as her former sources discovered she was working in this field. Her practice mainly focuses on the hospitality industry in North and South Carolina. Her clients include properties for several boutique and franchise hoteliers in North Carolina: Early Bird Night Owl, Loden Hospitality, Summit Hospitality and CMC Hotels. Her restaurant clients include: Lenoir and Handy & Hot, Vivian Howard’s restaurants in Charleston, S.C.; Saap, Sam Jones BBQ, Trophy Brewing, Union Special Bread, Brewery Bhavana and more.
