  • May-15-Trademark-Laws
What is a “trademark?” What’s the difference between “TM” and the “circle-R?” How long does it take? What does it cost? Why do I care? We’ll answer all of these in a brief lecture (followed by LOTS of questions and answer!) this month.
Tech Tuesday returns with a crash course on trademark laws presented by John Szymankiewicz, from Matheson & Associates and Beer Law Center. This month’s seminar will talk about trademark law, common law trademark rights, and federal registration. This discussion will be geared toward small businesses that want to grow their business and protect their name/image/brand in the future. We’ll talk a little bit about enforcement of trademark rights, but we’ll talk a LOT about what trademark is and what it isn’t so you can understand what part trademark law plays in your business and marketing.

About the speaker:

Attorney John R. Szymankiewicz Esq, PE

John Szymankiewicz is a licensed Professional Engineer and Attorney in North Carolina. While launching his Raleigh law practice, John saw the need for trained, understanding attorneys focused on their clients needs in some key areas. Most importantly, this means developing an ongoing relationship, becoming a business partner, with clients instead of being merely a supplier of services. As such, in this law office, we strive to find the right solution for the client now and in the future. We look for opportunities to work collaboratively and keep costs down for our clients, principally individuals and small businesses.
