Join us at Plates Neighborhood Kitchen Sunday, October 18 at 6:30 pm for our second edition of Hops vs. Grapes! Chef Sam Bradford will be featuring five delicious courses, each paired with one beer and one wine, expertly chosen by Bar Manager Justin Gallus (wine) and Certified Cicerone David Wrenn (beer). The menu:

First Course
Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich a la Plates
(Beer: Terrapin Rye Pale Ale — Wine: Pavillon de Chavannes Côte de Brouilly Beaujolais 2012)

Second Course
Candied Maine diver scallops, pear, pecan, bacon, maple madeira vinaigrette
(Beer: Ommegang Rare Vos Belgian Amber — Wine: Cleto Chiarli Brut de Noir Rose Lambrusco)

Third Course
Pumpkin pasta ravioli, beer braised pork shoulder filling, garlic and ginger bok choy
(Beer: Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale — Wine: Solena Pinot Gris 2014)

Fourth Course
Smoked beef brisket, nappa kraut, smoked turnip puree, brown butter tobacco barbecue sauce
(Beer: Stone Smoked Porter — Wine: Cellers Can Blau Montsant Red 2013)

Fifth Course
Apples kugel, persimmon anglaise, caramel sauce by Chef Warren
(Beer: Victory Moonglow Weizenbock — Wine: Chateau de Caladroy Muscat de Rivesaltes 2013)

Votes will be collected via secret ballot at the completion of each course to determine which pairing best complemented its dish. A supreme champion will be crowned at the end of the evening, and there will be much rejoicing.

Cocktail hour at 5:30 pm, dinner at 6:30.

The event is $75 per person, tax and gratuity included.
