Garden Storytime at JC Raulston Arboretum 5/24
Garden Storytimes are a great way for families with preschool children to experience the garden. You’ll start with a stroll through the JC Raulston Arboretum with the Children’s Program staff and volunteers to see what’s happening in the gardens, read a few children’s books with a garden twist, and go home with a garden themed craft created by your little one.
Parents and caregivers stay and participate with their children in the activities. Program begins at the Bobby G. Wilder Visitor Center. Come dressed for the weather as this program is held outdoors. Suggested for ages 3 to 5 years old. All ages are welcome, but activities and book will be planned for the suggested age range. $5.00 per child. No cost for parent or caregiver attending with child. Wake County 5th Annual Field of Honor 5/24-27
Creating an awe-inspiring panorama, United States flags will fly in a solemn formation at West Raleigh Baseball Complex during May of 2024. This stirring display of 500 flags will bring the community together in a patriotic tribute to honor our heroes. Each U.S. flag represents an individual and tells a story. Flags may be sponsored to honor individuals currently serving in our military, veterans, first responders, child abuse prevention and victims of 9/11. This unique event is the perfect opportunity for all of us to remember and honor our many heroes. We invite all to visit the Wake County Field of Honor® patriotic display and walk with us among the posted flags. The display will raise funds for programs of the Wake County Exchange clubs. Memorial Day Ceremony at the State Capitol 5/27
A ceremony to honor U.S. Military personnel that died in World Wars and Conflicts. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 am and will have a five-piece band, guest speaker, color guard detail, and the placing of the wreath at the base of the Military Memorial Monument. More information.
